The difficult situation surrounding the release of Cyberpunk 2077 and the subsequent redemption arc cannot hurt the development of The Witcher 4.

CD Projekt Red has indeed learned valuable lessons from the past and is now looking towards the future where it continues on its path of “evolution, improvement and transformation”. As before, the company is confident that the mistakes of Cyberpunk 2077 will not be repeated, and the launch of Phantom Liberty is one of the proofs of recent changes for the better.

“First of all, of course, there were difficulties immediately after Cyberpunk released, but we have identified the lessons we have learned. Since then, we've released the Phantom Liberty expansion. We had to work on how to develop a game on a different level, in terms of how we approached the release and promotion campaign for all of this. Of course, it (Phantom Liberty) is an expansion and not a full game, but nevertheless, it is huge and the changes are significant – in terms of gameplay and the world itself, right? So we saw a new level of quality.” “It's the same with The Witcher and the new project we're working on – yes, this is a continuation of the path of evolution, improvement and transformation that we're following. To make sure that we have a clear vision, that everyone understands what we're doing. Not only at the project level but also at the company level. This is a strategy that we all understand our involvement in, so we are all moving in the same direction,” CDPR in an interview with The Inverse.

In another interview, CDPR confirmed that the new story's story is not based on the Netflix adaptation. The developers also hinted at the return of Gwent.

The Witcher 4 does not have an exact release date.
