Unusual weather broke records in 10 Russian cities

Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, said that unusually warm weather broke records in 10 Russian cities. “Moscow Evening” wrote about this with reference to a source.

The forecaster clarified that the daily record of January 8 was broken in cities such as Ryazan, Orel, Lipetsk, Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Yoshkar-Ola, Cheboksary and Cherkessk.

Vilfand noted that the record in Moscow was 5.1 degrees. At the same time, he added, in the capital the thermometer only increased to 4.6 degrees.

Previously, leading expert of Meteonovosti news agency Tatyana Pozdnykova reported that the past day was the hottest in the capital since 1948, the average temperature in VDNKh was 3.2 degrees.
