The US Department of Justice has ordered the confiscation of two apartments in Florida believed to belong to Russian businessman Viktor Perevalov. reports this with reference to a statement from the ministry.
This decision is the result of a lawsuit filed in February 2024. Thus, the Department of Justice confiscated two apartments in Miami that were maintained, transferred and rented in violation of US sanctions for Russian Viktor Perevalov.
It is known that the value of confiscated assets is about 1.8 million USD.
Last September, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Dmitry Birichevsky, said that if Russian assets were confiscated by the US government, Moscow would respond. The diplomat emphasized that, from an official point of view, Russia's sovereign assets in the United States are not confiscated but frozen. Nominally the assets still belong to Russia.
