There are no plans to introduce sanitary restrictions in Russian schools due to metapneumovirus. The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation reported this on Wednesday.

Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov said the Russian education system continues to operate normally.

Media reported on January 5 that an outbreak of metapneumovirus has been recorded in China. The death rate from this infection is estimated by experts to be 43%, higher than that of Covid-19.

Metapneumovirus infection is accompanied by cold-like symptoms. The disease is mild but complications can occur in children, the elderly and people with weak immune systems.
