Ballet dancer Sergei Polunin announced his plans to leave Russia

19 Dec, 2024

Ballet dancer Sergei Polunin said he plans to leave Russia but doesn't know exactly where he will go. A notice about this appeared on his page on one of the social networks.

Polunin said he had “fulfilled his mission” in Russia. He emphasized that the Russian Federation has been his homeland for many years and has helped him a lot.

“The soul is not in the right place. Thank you for everything Russia has done for me. The time comes and the soul feels no longer where it needs to be,” this is how the dancer explained his plan.

He added that Russia has helped him create many “great performances.” Polunin thanked the audience and colleagues for their support, noting that it was in Russia that he met his wife, who gave birth to three sons.

“Russia has very kind, very humane people. Where we are going is still unclear and I only hope that the soul is calm and in its right place,” the post emphasized.

Polunin “removed” Putin's tattoo

In 2018, Polunin, a native of Kherson, said he had received Russian citizenship. On his birthday that year, he said he was sending all his best wishes to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A few days later, he posted a photo of his tattoo with Putin. In addition, Polunin also has the coat of arms of Ukraine on his left hand and a Russian double-headed eagle on his right hand.
