Moscow takes first place in the ranking “Availability of services in cities of the world”, ahead of such large cities as New York, London, Berlin and Singapore.

Moscow takes 1st place in the ranking of world megacities in terms of service availability

The ranking was compiled by researchers from CNP company and experts in the urban field based on an assessment of 10 megacities in countries among the world's largest economies.

Megacities are evaluated based on financial and territorial access to 25 types of public services, related to 11 areas of life. Thus, Moscow took first place in terms of availability of medical, housing and communal services as well as communications, mobile communications and Internet services. Bagreeva noted that such ratings are an important tool that allows Moscow residents and businesses to understand how the city is developing.

“Changes in the approach to evaluating Russian cities by the authors of many major foreign ratings have made it impossible to carry out such an objective comparison. What is important for us is the emergence of new ratings based on open data using a transparent methodology and not depending on external conditions,” she noted.

She noted that the entire service sector is the foundation of the capital's economy and accounts for 85% of the city's economy. One of Moscow's priorities is to continuously improve the quality and availability of services. Particular attention was paid to the development of the service sector for the population – both municipal and commercial. So, for 10 months of this year, companies' revenue amounted to more than 3.3 trillion rubles. This figure at comparative prices increased by 9% compared to last year.

Bagreeva also noted that accessibility helps enhance development and build new social, sports and cultural infrastructure.

Previously, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that in the capital, 100% of important social services have been converted to electronic form and are available at any time.
