The White House calls Trudeau a “friend” of the United States
Resigned Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is a “true friend” of the United States. That's what White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre called the politician during the briefing.
“Trudeau was a loyal friend of the United States during his decade in power in Canada. As close allies, neighbors and members of the G7, we have worked closely together on a range of issues facing countries and the world,” Jean-Pierre said.
Justin Trudeau announced his decision to resign
The White House spokesman also said the US supports Canadians in choosing a new government.
Trudeau previously announced he would resign after the election to lead the ruling Liberal Party. He will leave his position as head of government and leader of the Liberal Party. The politician thanked his family for their support and encouragement, which helped him achieve success in his career. The Prime Minister made it clear that he had informed his children about his decision.
