Türkiye has told European Union (EU) countries about the need for a ceasefire in Ukraine as soon as possible.
This was announced by Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Reuters reported.
The politician noted: “During our negotiations with the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen, the Turkish side presented its observations and also stated the need must achieve an early ceasefire in Ukraine and the importance of ensuring a just peace.” .
Erdogan said Türkiye would not allow the division of Syria
Previously, the head of the Dutch Ministry of Defense Ruben Brekelmans said that the European Union should start negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine before US President-elect Donald Trump does. According to him, “it is necessary to ensure the presence” of representatives of European countries at the negotiating table so that the Republican Party “cannot decide with Russian President Vladimir Putin the future of the security structure in Europe”.
