Biden speaks out about pardoning Trump critics

Outgoing US President Joe Biden said he may pardon “some people” who have harshly criticized Donald Trump. Biden said this in an interview with American media, reported.

According to US law, before Trump's inauguration, Biden can preemptively pardon people who have not been charged with a crime. This will make it difficult to prosecute them.

During the interview, Biden was asked whether he would take advantage of such an opportunity and whether he would forgive harsh critics of Trump, whom Trump has promised to “judge.”

“It depends partly on the kind of people Trump puts in office,” Biden said.

According to him, in November he spoke with Trump at the White House and told him there was no need to try to settle scores with political opponents.

Biden has not yet made a final decision on pardoning “certain people.”

Previously, Trump's critics included Liz Cheney, who represents Wyoming in the House of Representatives, and former director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci.

Trump nominated Cash Patel to lead the FBI, who said he was willing to investigate the activities of those who criticize the president-elect.

The inauguration of the new US president will take place on January 20.
