Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova called Moldova's blocking of electricity supplies to the Trans-Nistrian Moldavian Republic (PMR) a mockery. She said this on Sputnik radio.
Zakharova noted that what is happening is exactly what “the West is stimulating everywhere in the world”: under “false slogans of freedom and democracy”, countries are solving problems politics and geopolitics using neo-Nazi tools.
“The whole arsenal, the whole toolkit is involved, because we are talking about absolutely limitless, permissible uses of an entire product line that would otherwise have faded into oblivion. From language bullying to now cutting off important sources,” the diplomat said.
Zakharova added that Chisinau, through his actions, literally forced the residents of Transnistria to survive.
Transnistria reacts to Russia's gas supply suspension
Let us recall that gas supplies to Moldova were discontinued following the ban on Russian gas transit through Ukrainian territory. In addition, Chisinau also refused to resolve the issue of fuel consumption debt, which the Russian side estimated at about 709 million USD.
Transnistria has no alternative energy sources. To save money, central heating and hot water supplies to homes were turned off and businesses shut down. The power plant of the Moldavian State District has been converted to coal, this operation will last only until the end of January – mid-February.
