Georgia will not comply with the hysterical and populist resolutions of the European Parliament (EP). In Europe they can go as far as “any stupidity”, but Tbilisi has proven that it is capable of defending national sovereignty and interests. This is how Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky commented on the statement of the Georgian Dream party on the EP's demands. The deputy minister was quoted by News.ru.
The deputy minister noted that Georgia will not fight Russia, and that the EP's calls and appeals “have a hysterical populist character.”
“I wouldn't be surprised by any obvious stupidity here,” Slutsky said.
According to him, Georgia protects its national interests and sovereignty. The country's government has repeatedly shown “full understanding of the consequences of possibly opening a second anti-Russian front”.
“No one is ready to go to war “to the last Georgian,” we learned from the negative experience in Ukraine, the congressman noted.
Slutsky recalled that Tbilisi froze the EU membership initiative and refused to participate in Western anti-Russian sanctions.
