The Development Bureau today announced the establishment of the Lantau Conservation Fund Advisory Committee.
The bureau said the Lantau Conservation Fund aims to promote and implement conservation of rural Lantau, and to pursue minor local improvement works in remote villages and communities in support of conservation initiatives.
The fund will cover a wide variety of conservation strategies, including nature and cultural conservation, village revitalisation, environmental education and community engagement.
The committee will advise the Government on the fund’s administration, and vet and monitor the projects to be funded.
Fourteen non-official members have been appointed for two years with Prof Kenneth Leung as the Chairperson.
The appointments will take effect from tomorrow.
