
The Environmental Protection Department today announced it recorded 41 convictions for pollution offences in August.
Twenty-two convictions were under the Public Cleansing & Prevention of Nuisances Regulation, six were for illegal waste disposal and four for noise.
There were also four convictions under the Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance, three for air pollution and two for water pollution.
The heaviest fine was $40,000 given to a company for using powered mechanical equipment not in accordance with the conditions of a construction noise permit.
